Dosage rates
Seeding dosage
This is the first dosage and will provide a significant boost to the system. Double the maintenance dose determined below. Many water systems will not need treatment during the cold winter months. Anticipate doing a seeding dosage once a year in early spring.
Maintenance dosage
1 oz. per 1000 gallons per week during months when the water temperature is above 50o F (10o C). Microorganisms are not significantly active when temperatures are under 50o F.
1 oz. per 1000 gallons per week is the average dosage rate for most ornamental systems. Increase dosage by 25% for systems that are in poor shape.
Larger systems should use 3 oz. per 20,000 gallons.
Reconstitution procedure (optional, but recommended for optimal function of the microorganisms): Mix amount of BRF-2 determined above in a bucket containing a few gallons of pond water. Place in the sun for 4 to 6 hours. If possible, place a small airstone (diffuser) in the bucket to aerate and circulate the mixture during the entire reconstitution time.
After the 4 to 6 hours, pour near water falls, pump outlets, filtration, and fountains where water movement will circulate product throughout system. If system is equipped with a filter, pour half the dosage into the filter, half into the pond. Ponds with none of the above should pour the BRF-2 evenly around the edges.
Storage temperature of 40o F to 75o F is optimal. Keep containers sealed in a cool, dark area. Avoid exposure of dry material to moisture. High heat (above 90o F) should also be avoided, especially long-term exposure.
Shelf life is 24 months under optimal storage temperatures.
